  12. The ID LOGIC « World Time Clock indicates the current time
  13. in most timezones around the world and takes Summer Time
  14. (DST) automatically into account (both in the Northern- and
  15. Southern-hemisphere). In addition, the clock - which is fully
  16. dynamic - indicates clearly the date division.
  17.  
  18. A Conference Time function allows you to ask the question
  19. At what LOCAL time should I call city X to reach it at its
  20. time Y? (DST is taken into account, so you must also give the date.)
  21.  
  22. Five separate multimedia alarms are provided for which are
  23. remembered whenever you reboot Windows. These can be set to
  24. activate (once, hourly, daily, weekly, etc.) either a beep
  25. signal, a WAV file, a voice recording you can make yourself,
  26. a MIDI sequence, an AVI video file or an audio compact disk.

  28. If you have a modem, you can synchronize your system clock/
  29. calendar with the time signal issued by the atomic time
  30. generator of the National Institute of Science and Technology
  31. in Colorado.

  33. Although a large number of cities are already pre-programmed,
  34. you can define and position up to nine custom city labels yourself.

  36. The ID LOGIC World Time Clock made it's first appearance (in
  37. rudimentary form) in the ID LOGIC Shortwave Simulator for Windows
  38. which simulates the shortwave receiver of the (near) future which
  39. will permit the automatic scanning for a station by name, language,
  40. schedule and other attributes. By popular demand, the World Time
  41. Clock was made into a stand-alone application.

  43. The ID LOGIC SW Simulator can be downloaded via the Internet from
  44. the anonymous ftp site ftp.hk.net (shareware/prs/ID_SW.ZIP) or
  45. from our WWW Home Page at http://www.hk.net/~prs

  47. It contains the schedules of the BBC World Service, the VoA,
  48. and most of the other largest international shortwave broadcasters.

  56. The ID LOGIC World Time Clock for MS Windows requires the following:
  57.  
  58.     - IBM PC compatible machine;
  59.     - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
  60.     - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
  61.     - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k colors preferred);
  62.     - A modem if you want to use the Synchronization feature.

  68. ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to
  69.  
  70.   1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
  71.   2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
  72.     (e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.
  73.  
  74. PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
  75. ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
  76. (which is today on the N.Am market in several receivers).

  78. We have licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
  79. PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.

  81. An AM/FM ID LOGIC Simulator containing most of the 14,000+ North
  82. American AM/FM stations is available as shareware from the
  83. anonymous ftp server ftp.hk.net (/shareware/prs/ID_NA.ZIP).

  85. In 1993, ID LOGIC was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
  86. (RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
  87. on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
  88. RDS standard.)

  90. Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the
  91. Voice of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
  92. This informal open consortium has since been joined by many international
  93. broadcasters and we expect it will continue to grow very rapidly.
  94. There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
  95. pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
  96. the other for the desired language) to access an in-receiver database
  97. of scheduling data which will be maintained and refreshed by digital
  98. transmissions from the broadcasters themselves.
